Questions people ask
About the membership, tokens, credit and certificates, and what taking a class is like.
1. The membership
1.1 What does the membership include?
Every class in the catalog, every new class as it is released, progress tracking, and a certificate for each class you finish. It is $59.99 a month and you can cancel any time.
1.2 How does the free month work?
The first 100 people to join get their first month free. Billing starts after that month, and if you cancel before it ends, you pay nothing. Once the 100 places are taken, new members start at $59.99 a month.
1.3 Can I cancel?
Yes, any time, from your account. A membership that is cancelled or has a card problem keeps working until the end of the period you already paid for, so you are never cut off in the middle of a lesson.
1.4 Is the membership for my whole team?
No. The membership is for one person. For an agency, a department or a company, Kingfisher Services builds programs and volume licensing and quotes them directly at business.kingfisher.academy.
2. Tokens
2.1 What are tokens for?
Tokens open single classes, for people who want one or two rather than the whole catalog. 1,000 tokens cost $200. A class under 50 minutes is 100 tokens and a class of 50 minutes or more is 200.
2.2 Do tokens expire?
No. Tokens never expire, and you can spend them from Build Your Own Track: put together what you want, then unlock it.
2.3 Which is cheaper, tokens or the membership?
If you expect to take more than a couple of classes, the membership is the cheaper way round. Tokens are best when you know exactly which one or two classes you need.
3. Credit, ranks and certificates
3.1 What is a credit hour?
Each class carries credit hours based on its measured length. Finishing a class banks those hours in the class's category: Leadership, Management, Communication or Productivity.
3.2 How do the ranks work?
Each category has the same ten ranks, from Raw Recruit at zero hours to Strategic Commander at 30. Your rank in a category rises as your credit hours there do, and the dashboard shows how far you are from the next one.
3.3 Do I get a certificate?
Yes. Finishing a class earns a certificate you can download as a PDF, check with its verification ID, and add to your LinkedIn profile, filed under KingFisher's own page.
3.4 Why do I have to pass a check at the end?
Every class ends in a final check you must answer correctly to finish. It is what makes the certificate mean you did the work, not just that you opened the pages.
4. Taking a class
4.1 Do I have to listen to the narration?
Lessons are narrated, and by default you listen through before moving on. If you cannot listen, turn on audio accommodation in your account and lessons will let you continue once you confirm you have read the on-screen text.
4.2 If a class is updated, do I lose my progress?
No. When a class is edited, everything you had already finished still counts, and your credit and certificates follow the class.
4.3 Can I see what the Academy holds about me?
Yes. Your account page lets you download your record: your enrollments, knowledge checks, certificates, the city-level locations you signed in from, and a summary of your recent activity.
